Home Made Rat Playground
I just read in the newspaper "El País " that the English Deputy Prime Minister Maria Teresa Fernandez de la Vega, has said it is working with countries that make up the Atalanta against piracy in Somalia . Everything comes in the wake of the kidnapping of Basque ship Alakrana in the waters of this country. He says he is doing everything in the field of law, is allowed to do.
Well, I was not entirely clear what Somalia piracy is concerned, if the fishermen Somali pirates or converted to business, drawing on the institutional vacuum created in Somalia after years of conflict, they go into the Gulf of Aden to practice all sorts of illegal driving and throwing the water containers full of toxic and even radioactive materials, in contravention of the Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements Hazardous waste storage 1992. Remember that a ship was captured by the fishing community of Las Khorey when thrown into the sea two containers filled with toxic waste, which fortunately could be towed to the beach. The fishermen stored waste and invited the international community to investigate the matter. They received no response. Many of these people have organized against these ships, and created the National Volunteer Coast Guard, which patrolled the coast boats deterring foreign vessels engaged in all sorts of illegal activities. The authorities and international organizations apply to these patrols the name "Somali pirates", equating to groups of fishermen who, because of declining catches in the area, find it profitable to engage in raiding the ships that have caused his downfall.
